Strengthening Our Connections - November 9th, 2023

Come to the Table inception. In November of 2023, Pastor Floyd Thompkins of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Marin City invited leaders of the faith community from all around Marin to join him in coming together to discuss ways that the residents of Marin City could be better served through our churches and places of worship. 33 leaders joined in the conversation and it was discovered that most leaders were not aware of the issues the small, tight-knit community faced on a daily basis. A steering committee was formed and Come to the Table and the Marin City News newsletter were born. Since March of 2024, we've covered topics on women in the workplace, arts and culture, the history of Marin City, health care disparities, the environment, and Marin City's history part II. We've had a celebration gospel concert and an awards presentation for all the guest speakers. The free monthly dinners and forums have been wildly successful. The residents of Marin and Marin City have been educated, but more importantly, they have formed bridge-building relationships.
